InstaKeep
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 September 2026
InstaKeep ("the app") lets you save Instagram media to your device. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who it is shared with. By using InstaKeep you agree to this policy.
No account, no sign-up
InstaKeep has no registration or login. On first launch the app signs in anonymously through Firebase Authentication, which creates a random identifier for your installation. We never ask for your name, e-mail address, phone number or Instagram credentials, and the app never asks you to log in to Instagram.
What we collect
- Anonymous user ID and a device identifier — to apply download limits, premium status and abuse protection.
- Links you paste — the Instagram URL is sent to our servers or to third-party resolver services only to locate the media. Links are cached briefly to reduce cost and are not tied to your identity.
- Usage and diagnostics — anonymous statistics (screens opened, downloads completed, ads watched) and crash reports via Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics.
- Push token — if you allow notifications, a Firebase Cloud Messaging token is stored so we can send announcements.
- Purchase status — whether you have an active premium subscription, provided by RevenueCat and Google Play. We never see or store your payment card details.
What stays on your device
The media you download and your download history never leave your phone. Files are saved to your gallery (DCIM/InstaKeep, Pictures/InstaKeep) and the history list is stored only in the app's local storage. Nothing you download is uploaded to us or to anyone else. Deleting the app deletes that data permanently.
Permissions
- Storage / Media — required to save downloaded files to your gallery.
- Notifications — optional; used for download and announcement notifications.
- Internet — required to resolve links and download media.
The app reads your clipboard only to detect an Instagram link when you open it, so it can offer to paste it for you. Clipboard content is never transmitted or stored.
Advertising
The free version shows ads through Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers to show relevant ads and measure performance. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent on first launch (Google UMP), and you can change that choice at any time from the app's Settings. A premium subscription removes all ads. See how Google uses data from apps that use its services.
Third parties we use
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config) — privacy
- Google AdMob — advertising
- Google Play Billing & RevenueCat — subscription management
- Public media resolver services — when a link cannot be resolved on your device, the URL alone is passed to third-party resolver services to retrieve the media address
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone beyond the services listed above.
Data retention and deletion
Anonymous account data is kept while your installation is active. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your device — downloaded files stay in your gallery, the download history is deleted — and the anonymous identifier is discarded with it. To have the server-side record deleted as well, write to gkdmr.gkn@gmail.com; requests are processed within 30 days.
Children
InstaKeep is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
Copyright and intended use
InstaKeep is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. All trademarks belong to their respective owners. The app is intended for saving content you own or have permission to use; you are responsible for how you use downloaded material and for respecting the rights of content owners.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
